Work related learning week
Key Stage 4 Work Related Learning Week The week beginning 29th April, Key Stage 4 students took part in a Work Related Learning Week. The year 11 students went out on a work experience for 3 days, whilst the year 10 students did work related activities in school. The year 11 student were given the opportunity to do real jobs in industries, businesses and charity shops. Their placements included; The Co-op in Kirkby, Five Gables Residential Home in Kirkby, The Samaritans Charity Shop in Kirkby, The Tin Hat Cafe in Selston, Rumbles Cafe in Sutton,, Nottinghmshire Gun Club, litter picking with Mansfield Council and Bracken Hill School Kitchens. The year ten students had a program of activities that would prepare them for the world of work. these included activities such as making packed lunches, cleaning teeth, cleaning shoes and nails and ironing. They took part in an enterprise challenge where they had to work as a team to create a costume out of recycled materials. They took part in mock interviews and did a number of problem solving activities based on The STEM program (Science,Technology, Engineering and Maths). They had great fun and learnt lots of new skills.
