    A little about our governors

    Sue Hudson – (Co-opted Governor, LA Governor)

    I have been a Governor at Bracken Hill for over ten years and enjoy being part of the Governing Body and visiting the school. I grew up in Sutton- in -Ashfield and have lived in Kirkby for the over 22 years. I am married and have two grown up sons, so have plenty of experience with teenagers!

    My background is in Education. I was a teacher for almost 40 years, 38 of them at what is now Sutton Community Academy. For many years I was the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), so I feel I have a good understanding of the needs of students and how to meet them. I also have years of experience working together with children, their parents and carers, and other professionals to make sure the children are happy and safe in and out of school and are making the best progress they can. I hope to use these professional skills for the benefit of the school.

    I am newly retired, so am looking forward to having more time to develop my role as Vice Chair of Governors.
