All About Parents Group

One of the most important elements of our school values is you: our wonderful families.

Since 2015, I have been privileged enough to work directly with our parents during our Parents’ Group. It is an opportunity to meet other parents/carers over a tea or coffee with biscuits and cakes.

Our Parents’ Group is very informal and run by our Community Liaison. Sometimes we just have a catch up and a chat and other times, from suggestions, we will base our discussions around a particular topic. I have previously arranged different workshops including: Phonics, E-Safety and Financial Assistance. We have also tried our hand at some art workshops – which proved very interesting!

Our Parents Group will now be meeting at our new venue Café 22 - the community cafe at the Ashwood Centre. Café 22 is a community cafe situated at Ashwood Centre, Portland Street, Kirkby In Ashfield NG17 7AB. It runs every Monday morning between 9.30-12pm and operates on a donation basis.

Any new members are welcomed, just get in touch.

TESTIMONIALS FROM PARENTS REF PARENTS COFFEE GROUP

I have been a regular participant at Parents Group Coffee Morning for the last 6 years. It is an opportunity to meet other parents/Carers over a coffee/tea with biscuits and cakes too! It’s very informal, sometimes we just have a catch up and a chat or maybe have a discussion on a particular topic. Carrey has arranged different workshops like Phonics, E-Safety or benefits.  We have even had a virtual coffee morning/afternoon which went very well!

Parent group is for me an awesome outlet the parents who have kids on the spectrum know exactly about how stressful it is to be a parent and just to talk helps me benefit too.

I have been attending the Parent Group for many years while my daughter has been at Bracken Hill School.

Carrey is able to offer us all support for both in school and out for various reasons. We all share many laughs together, lots of tea, coffee and biscuits. It is great to be able to talk freely and in confidence with other parents who have similar experiences and making friends, even in the lockdown we have been able to continue with virtual team meetings.

I have found the Parents Group to be a valuable support and source of comfort, fun and information. We have all benefitted from sharing our experiences with one another
