Welcome to our page on careers and work-related learning

Here you will find information on our policy and current provision, as well as upcoming and past events. We also try to give you a snapshot of the wealth of activities our school offers to help prepare our students for an independent life and full participation in the community.

13th September - Work experience at Morrison's and at the YESS project start

                            Job Fair for Year 11s at Kirkby Festival Hall

17th September - Festival of Skills for KS4 and KS5 at Alfreton Leisure Centre

21st November - Careers Fair for KS4 and KS5 at Derrymount School 

22nd and 29th November - Visits to Takeover Radio for KS4

17th January - Visit to Whitemeadows for 15 KS4 students

6th February - Visit to Sewilicious for Thoresby class 

13th February - Work experience in Rabbits class begins

6th March - Visit to Floralands Garden Centre for Rufford and Thoresby Classes

Visit to Whitemeadows
We were taken through the whole production process, from sorting the fabrics to stuffing the cushions and making buttons. Students enjoyed the opportunity to ask questions and decided to design their own dream sofas. Karen offered to ask her design team to have a look at them and give feedback.
