ELSA – Emotional Literacy Support Assistants
ELSA is an intervention that is delivered by Teaching Assistants, who have had additional training on relevant topics. Topics covered by ELSA’s include Aspects of Emotional Literacy including emotional awareness, self-esteem, managing strong emotions, social communication, belonging and social relationships.
The ELSA will work with the child individually using fun activities which are targeted towards the child’s identified need.
Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes every week for 6-12 weeks, dependant on need. It is supported and monitored by Educational Psychologists who have developed the intervention and delivered the training.
