Phase 2

Welcome to the Phase 2

Key Stage 3 (Phase 2) at Bracken Hill caters for children from 11 to 14 years of age.  Our pupils in Year 7, 8 and 9 are taught in five mixed year group classes, each with a curriculum designed to meet the needs of the children.

Pupils follow different pathways: Explorers, Adventurers and Pioneers.  All three pathways follow the same theme, but access the theme in a way that meets the individual needs of the pupils. Each class is differentiated for ability, with classes learning a mix of core subjects, foundation subjects and lessons aimed at developing social and emotional skills.

The curriculum is delivered by both highly skilled class teachers who teach a range of subjects and oversee the progress of their class, and specialist teachers in areas such as science, technology and PE.  This gives the children a clear sense of belonging and safety with key staff, mixed with the secondary school feel of experiencing different teachers and using specialised spaces.

Overall in Key Stage 3, we aim to allow all pupils to meet their academic potential through positive experiences and emotional growth.
