What a fantastic term we’ve had in Caterpillars Class! Since starting school back in September, the children have been on such an exciting journey, getting used to the routines and settling into their new environment. They’ve worked so hard to learn the classroom rules and have done an amazing job adapting to school life. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence grow and watch how much they’ve achieved.
This festive season has been such a lovely time for us all. The children have had so much fun getting creative with Christmas crafts, making some beautiful things.
A real highlight of the term was our Stay and Play afternoons. It was so special to welcome so many of you into our classroom. The afternoons were filled with smiles, laughter, and such a strong sense of togetherness. Thank you so much for being part of those moments—it meant so much to all of us.
As we get ready for the holiday season, we want to say a huge thank you for all your support this term. It’s been such a big part of making this term so special. We hope you have a wonderful and relaxing Christmas full of happiness, and we wish you all the best for the New Year ahead!
Happy holidays from everyone in Caterpillars Class!
This week has been full of exciting adventures in our class! We've had so much fun exploring 2D shapes, focusing on circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles. The movement room has been a hit too, with lots of running, jumping, and big smiles all around. Outside, the snow brought a magical touch to our week as we explored its frosty wonders. Indoors, we got creative with paints and rollers, making beautiful marks. It’s been a fantastic week of discovery, energy, and creativity!
This week in Caterpillars, we’ve had lots of fun exploring and learning together! We started by sharing our favourite resources and tuff spots, which helped us build social skills and learn from each other’s interests. In PE, we focused on our gross motor skills through a range of exciting activities, like running and balancing. We also embraced the seasonal changes by feeling and exploring autumn leaves and spending time outdoors on the field. To develop our fine motor skills, we got creative with mark making and practiced spreading butter on bagels—great for building strength in our little hands! It’s been a fantastic week full of exploration and growth!
Happy Half Term Caterpillars!
I hope you all have a fantastic break and we will see you on the 6th November.
What a wonderful, action-packed week we’ve had!
In maths, we focused on the concepts of emptying and filling, with the children fully engaged in fun water and sand play activities. In English, we started off by pressing sound buttons to hear the different dinosaur roars, then moved on to matching dinosaurs with their symbols. We've also taken full advantage of the sunny weather, spending lots of time outside climbing and running around the yard. To wrap up our week, we baked delicious banana loaf cakes. The children loved mixing the ingredients and, of course, tasting our creations – some even helped with the clean-up!
This week in Caterpillars we have been engaging well with our intensive interaction sessions with our familiar adults. Intensive interaction is a communication approach used to support children with who find social interaction and communication more difficult. It focuses on building relationships by responding to the child's own behaviors, gestures, or sounds in a relaxed, playful, and engaging way. By mirroring their actions and emotions, this method helps to develop trust, understanding, and meaningful communication. We have found out this week that lots of our Caterpillars are enjoying ring o ring o roses and round and round the garden.
This week we have also been using playdough to mark make and work on our fine motor skills, we have been rolling, squashing and pulling the dough.
What a fantastic week we have had in Caterpillars class. We have been exploring our new surroundings, lunch time, sensory room, movement room and especially top yard (our favourite). We have started to recognise our new teachers, teaching assistants and children and learning the Bracken Hill way!
The sun on been on our side this past week so we have made the most of the sunshine. We have been playing on top yard, field and even doing some gardening. The boys were very careful when watering the plants.
